A poem about why we won’t give up remembering every second
Victoria Munteanu
we stand in doorways to avoid leaving the room
we keep drinking from cups left with just the ice
we keep begging to be forgotten
in a world where we wish every moment lingered longer
maybe we should put more effort
maybe there is life within every word
maybe the world is ours
maybe we need to stop saying goodbye
running from connection
running to forget it all
it’s all in our heads I swear
and it just won’t pour out
why do we pretend to make a bigger effort to forget
everything that’s hurt us, than admitting we want to make an effort to listen
and stay put?
why do we linger in doorways?
to make the moment last longer, to make it all harder to forget
